An Evening with

The Surrey lot organised another
evening with Sid, we decided to go ahead despite the latest F & M as Sidney
is not flesh & blood (don’t tell him that!) and resides on a purely horse
establishment – so we went ahead …..
All arriving stinking of disinfectant
which was liberally across the gates complete with bucket and scrubber for the
boots!
We had more voyeurs than riders
(chickens!) who have all allegedly booked under the cover of darkness to have a
go at another time…..discussing Sid’s attributes over a glass or two of wine
(once Caroline came to the rescue with the corkscrew!!) Karen C took over the
BBQ (once I managed to light them) as I was busily burning chicken, sausages
and the veggie burgers (BBQ’s not my forte clearly – forgot the lighter, the
turning utensils AND the corkscrew) – pudding provided by Helen was devoured in
the form of BBQed Strawberry & marshmallow kebabs (yummmmmy!!)
Needless to say a good evening I think
but on a serious note a really valuable experience – Sidney allows you to
correct faults – when you’ve found them – and he really doesn’t mind how many
times you practise – it’s so interesting
to find how much you might grip in the wrong place – kick to hard – or –
not enough – rely on your reins – or topple off balance but by the same token
it’s lovely to be able to practise cantering along totally balanced enjoying
the view (not that it changes) being absolutely sure that he’s not going to spy
a monster!!!! Not that you’d ever want to replace your baby ….. mmmmm … no
mucking out, feeding, bucking, rearing, bolting or shying – could be an
option!!!!!
If you’re interested in another taster
evening like this give me a call or send me an email and we’ll sort it soon ….
Or alternatively, for those who are SHY call Nina @ Laris Farm directly for a
