I live in Camberley, Surrey.  Got into Endurance in 1997, although to date have only competed at rides up to 30 miles.  Started off doing pleasure rides, but got a taste for Endurance and have been fortunate to meet and make friends with so many genuinely nice people.  Over the time I’ve also enjoyed helping at various rides which has also taught me a lot about the sport.

Still competing my veteran Arab gelding, Keno - this is us during the Riding Club Team event at Alfreds Tower in August 2002 when our team came 3rd.  Have previously been on the SE Committee when a member of BERA and am an advocate of the grass roots level members, I believe this is where the future of the sport lies and are therefore to be encouraged.

I started riding at the age of 3 and have competed in most disciplines over the years but only began endurance in 2007. After doing BHS exams I studied at Writtle Agricultural College in Essex for a HND in Equine Studies and a BSc degree in Animal Science, and am just about to start a part time MA post-grad degree.  I love the fitness and exercise physiology aspects of endurance though I do often have to be reminded that they apply to me as well as the horse!

As part of the EGBSE committee I hope to be able to raise the profile and membership of the group and to improve communication and interaction between ourselves and other horse related groups, particularly local Pony Clubs. One of my aims is to establish a Pony Club Teams Championship, based on the successful SERC pilot which was run last year, so I’d be really keen to hear from any juniors who would be interested in taking part, and both juniors and seniors who could offer any help or contacts for local PC’s.

I compete on my pony Jester (Jesters Magic Trick) who is a chocolate brown 14.1hh New Forest x Thoroughbred gelding so if you see us out and about at rides do come and say hello!

I’ve ridden since about the same time as learning to walk and have never wanted to do much else than be on horseback.  I discovered Endurance in 1986 and have been completely hooked ever since, competing first with Vesta Golden Vacquero, and now Saqi and my youngster CoCo, often accompanied by one or both of my daughters on a range of ponies over the years from the indomitable 11.2hh Sausage to Mr. Bumble.  I prefer medium distance graded rides but have also enjoyed several ER’s (from the back!)and many pleasure and shorter CTR’s.  I organised Glassenbury with my husband Peter for many years.

Team events are fun, come and join us. Last year we had 44 riders and crew involved with over 22 horses and ponies. Let’s make the 2008 season even better. All are welcome Arabs and Hairy Cobs, bring them along!!

I will continue to be out and about and hopefully also continue to be harmless, come and chat…

See you all through the season – Good luck to everyone.

I have ridden since I was six years old, but only been involved with endurance riding for about the last six or seven years.

I compete on my beloved Quinn – a 13.3hh Arab/Welsh gelding (small is beautiful!).  2003 was our first season at Advanced level.

I am delighted to have been elected to serve on the South East Group Committee and look forward to being able to put something back into the sport that I enjoy so much.

I live in Newchapel, Surrey. I have been riding since I was 7 years old and fell in love with Endurance about 5 years ago. I started competing on my Welsh Cob Pickle but as she was getting on in years I brought my Arab FH Beqaa, in 2003 we won the SE Pleasure ride trophy and in early 2005 we up-graded to Intermediate and competed for the South East Team twice. I am currently training my new horse Vavaar for the 2008 season as Beqaa is still recovering from injury.

I have been involved with the organising of Devils Dyke Ride for several years now and have learnt so much about what goes into the running of rides. I have gained so many new friends being part of the SE group and my aim as part of the committee is to put back something into the sport which I enjoy so much.

I have been involved with horses since the tender age of 5. Over the years I have competed in both affiliated dressage and show jumping. I turned to Endurance riding as I far prefer a 20 mile loop to a 20 metre circle!

I have previously been a member of BERA, EHPS, East Anglian Trailriders Association & Anglian Distance Riders before EGB was formed.

Currently I have and Arab and a Hungarian warmblood. The main thing that I love about Endurance is the friendliness and camaraderie amongst everyone involved with this fabulous sport :-)

I have been riding since a teenager and 4 years ago bought my part-bred Arab Minnismoor Mistique. 2006 was our first foray into endurance so we are still very new to the sport but we have both been well and truly bitten by the bug. We will be competing at Advanced level in 2008 and hope to try our hand at some team events.

As a newcomer to the sport, my main reason for joining the committee is to represent the grass-root members who make up the majority of our membership and to ensure that their needs are being met as much as possible.
